In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, spend the evening with Drs. Alicia Schmidt Camacho and Stephen Pitti for their talk, “Defending Latinx Communities and Their Histories.”

The Expanding Perspectives Speaker Series brings scholars, educators, advocates, and community leaders to campus to engage the WSU community in meaningful conversations about culture, identity, history, equity, and the issues shaping our world.

About Dr. Alicia Schmidt Camacho
Dr. Alicia Schmidt Camacho is a Yale Professor of Ethnicity, Race, & Migration whose scholarship explores migration, social movements, and cultural politics in North America, with a focus on labor organizing, gender violence, border governance, and migrant culture.
About Dr. Stephen Pitti
Dr. Stephen Pitti is a Yale historian and scholar of Latino & Ethnic Studies. His research focuses on Chicano history, immigration, race, and civil rights. He also directs Yale’s Latina/o History Project.
He is the author of “The Devil in Silicon Valley,” and he’s currently working on books about César Chávez and race in California.
