About the Book
“Echoes on the Water” focuses on Crigler’s 2017 solo canoe trip of the entire length of the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca, Minnesota, to New Orleans, Louisiana.
The 2,300-mile journey was a powerful mission of honor, raising awareness for Vietnam War Gold Star Families who had been forgotten for decades.
Jim’s story captures the resilience of a soldier-turned-civilian determined to shine a light on the sacrifices of others.
With raw honesty and vivid detail, “Echoes on the Water” blends adventure, military memoir, and heartfelt reflection on the lasting wounds of war.
The book offers eye-opening insights into the struggles and sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and Gold Star families as well as a message of hope, healing, and the enduring power of service.
