About the Speaker

Giiwedin (they/them) is an Ojibwe Two-Spirit influencer and environmental advocate who shares content about Indigenous culture, environmental justice, and queer Indigenous history.

Their primary Instagram account (@giiwedinindizhinikaaz) has more than 200,000 followers. In 2022, they were recognized as a “20 Under 20 LGBTQ+ Changemaker” by Teen Vogue and The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

Giiwedin also models in the Native fashion world, walking in Native Fashion Week in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the first Indigenous New York Fashion Week.

In addition to their online work, Giiwedin advocates for the health of wild rice. They host camps on their land in northern Minnesota where they teach traditional harvesting and processing methods.
