June Msechu joined the Sociology Department in the fall of 2015 as a fixed term faculty member. Her research focuses on issues of inequalities, families and aging. More specifically, June has previously studied health care delivery, home management of illnesses and intergenerational relationships in Tanzania. She is currently working on a project that investigates care transactions in African immigrant families in the Twin Cities area.
June is passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, international students, and first generation college students with whom she feels a close kinship. Before joining Winona State, June taught at the University of Minnesota and University of Dar es Salaam. She currently teaches Introduction to Sociology and the Sociology of Families.
