Education Studies Department
The Department of Education Studies at Winona State houses Business Education, Doctorate of Education, and Foundations of Education.
The Department of Education Studies provides the foundational courses required for license for early childhood, elementary (Winona Campus), middle, and secondary teacher education licensure programs.
In addition, we offer a variety of degree programs:
- Business Education, which provides entry into high-demand fields in the region and WSU is the only public university to offer an undergraduate Business Teaching degree in the state of Minnesota.
- Career & Technical Education prepares teachers to combine the academic and technical skills needed for students to succeed in today’s labor market.
- Multicultural Education Certificate Program provides effective opportunities to examine how to provide equitable services.
- Doctorate of Education prepares educational practitioners for leadership roles in a wide range of educational settings.
Education Studies faculty and staff are committed to teaching and modeling reflective practice, responsiveness, and advocacy. Their goal is to respond to our students’ needs and provide them with resources to achieve their full potential.

Winona State’s new Career & Technical Education (CTE) bachelor’s degree trains future teachers in hands-on fields like engineering and healthcare. This program combines classroom learning with real-world experience to prepare students for in-demand teaching careers.
