Professional Statement

I am passionate about teaching communication and creativity because these disciplines empower students to think critically, solve complex problems, and create meaningful connections with diverse audiences. I teach a range of courses in Communication & Media, with particular expertise in strategic communication and creativity.

My research focuses primarily on consumer behavior and creativity, while also exploring topics such as advertising ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability in advertising.

Before entering academia, I worked in marketing at Target Corporation and in advertising at Carmichael Lynch, a Minneapolis-based agency–these are experiences that continue to inform my teaching and research.

Personal Statement

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy activities that inspire creativity and curiosity, including art, music, reading, and travel.

A lifelong fan of rock and roll, I find inspiration in both creative expression and new experiences. I am also a certified yoga instructor and value the opportunities that yoga provides for mindfulness, balance, and well-being.

I am a Minnesota native and have 2 adult children.
