Applied Linguistics and ESLT

Learn about how language works and its social and cultural importance and use your degree to teach English in non-K – 12 settings in the U.S. and abroad as an Applied Linguistics major.

Program at a Glance

The Applied Linguistics major consists of 40 credits.

You’ll learn the theory and practice of language teaching and complete coursework and projects in grammar, the history of language, and second language acquisition.

You’ll also have flexibility in this major to explore your personal interests through elective credit.

Many of our students choose to double-major or minor in a world language or another English program, allowing you to tailor the program to your interests and career goals.
