eWarrior Program

The WSU eWarrior Digital Life & Learning Program ensures students have secure, reliable, and supported technology 24/7.

The eWarrior program equips students with a fully configured and supported laptop computer. An iPad may be provided to students based on course or program requirements.

But it’s much more than just mobile devices.

Students receive all the hardware and software needed for their academic work and residential life, including:

  • Laptop – choose a Mac or PC, and then exchange it for a new model every two years
  • Software—including department-specific software and software updates
  • High quality anti-virus and spyware protection
  • Personal cloud storage
  • Access to network applications and services
  • VPN for remote access to network resources
  • Laser printer access
  • Loaner laptops if extended repairs or replacement is necessary
  • Laptop damage protection (some fees may apply) and with the option for an additional insurance program

Students also benefit from tech support services at no extra cost right on campus in the Technical Support Center, which is staffed with full-time technicians and trained student workers. The Tech Support team offers email, phone, and walk-in help for technical questions or issues.

The Digital Learning Center provides software and hardware training, including laptop workshops and one-on-one training upon request.

How the eWarrior Program Works

Most students are automatically enrolled in the eWarrior Digital Life & Learning Program as a requirement. But for some, it is optional depending on the degree program or number of credits they are taking.

All students are encouraged to take advantage of the eWarrior program as it makes your overall educational experience easier.

An eWarrior Digital Life & Learning Program fee is charged each semester. The majority of this fee goes toward hardware costs, while the remaining 40% goes to maintenance, software, staffing, and administrative costs.

There is no fee over summer break if you are enrolled at WSU for the following fall semester.

When a student graduates, they are eligible to purchase their laptop.

eWarrior Technology Agreement

Students must agree to the terms and conditions of the eWarrior Technology Agreement to participate. This agreement is valid throughout a student’s time at Winona State.

Academic Status & eWarrior Program

Return your mobile devices to the Technical Support Center (Somsen 207) within five days of graduation or withdrawal from WSU.

If a student is not registered for classes and has not returned their laptop and/or tablet, late return fees begin accumulating on the first day of the semester.

Refer to the eWarrior Technology Agreement Section 8 or contact Tech Support for more information.

Students on academic suspension notice who will not be returning to WSU the following semester should return their laptop to the Technical Support Center (Somsen 207) to avoid extra late mobile device return fees.

You can keep your WSU mobile devices and receive support services for a one academic semester leave of absence. You must pay the eWarrior Digital Life and Learning semester fee for that semester.

An extension will not be granted to students with unpaid eWarrior program fees. An academic leave application does not resolve or remove late fees that have been applied to the student account for failure to return mobile devices on time.

If your fees are paid up, you may follow the re-enrollment process and submit a form to the Technical Support Center.

You must register for classes one week prior to the start of the next academic semester or you will be considered in default of the eWarrior Digital Life and Learning contract.

Check with your instructor or advisor to find out if you are required to have a WSU laptop and/or tablet during the off-campus experience.

If you do not have a laptop requirement, you have two options.

Option 1: Keep Your Devices

Notify the Technical Support Center of your situation and your intention to keep the mobile devices, and they will explain your technical support options while away from campus.

Your student account will be billed for the semester eWarrior fee.

Option 2: Return Your Devices

Return your laptop and/or tablet to the Technical Support Center before you leave and before the semester begins. We do not hold returned laptops for the semester.

The semester eWarrior fee will be removed from your account.

If you don’t return the mobile devices before the semester begins, you will be assessed a fee based on the date they are returned.

If your study away from WSU is your last semester before graduation, contact the Technical Support Center for information regarding early laptop purchase options.
