Multicultural Education Certificate

Enhance your work by analyzing your cultural development experiences and learning how to provide professional services in a more equitable way.

Social conditions and political circumstances impact people differently depending on their backgrounds, lifestyles and origins. As such, culturally responsive practices are crucial for success as our world grows increasingly complex

The Multicultural Education Certificate Program (MECP) prepares professionals to better serve diverse clients in any industry, including:

  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Law Enforcement
  • Social services
  • Non-profits
  • Arts
  • Military
  • Corporate business
Our learners bring many different identities and life experiences with them to our after-school programs. To meet their needs, it’s critical that we have the knowledge, skills, and mindset required for a culturally responsive system. The MECP process brought us another step closer to achieving this.

Amy Eich, Executive Director of Community Education

About the Instructor

Dr. Nicholas Wysocki has worked in higher education for over 20 years.

He is an Associate Professor in the WSU Education Studies Department where he works with teacher candidates seeking licensure and graduate students engaged in ethnographic analysis projects.

The MECP program has been extremely helpful and insightful with our Community Education Afterschool Programs. We have been using data to give us ways to reach students across many different cultures, genders, races, and religions. After working with Dr. Wysocki, our team feels like we are heading toward absolute inclusion and equality.
