College of Business Dean’s Community Leadership Advisory Board

The College of Business Dean’s Community Leadership Advisory Board (C-LAB) provides advice and guidance to the Dean and faculty of the College in achieving its vision and mission, which also contribute to university-wide strategic planning. 

The Board includes notable business, community, and alumni leaders who advocate for the College in the community and who provide active support to sustain and enhance the College.

Strategic Goals

C-LAB will play a vital and dynamic advisory role in guiding and assisting the College of Business to become a destination public undergraduate business program. To achieve this, the Board will:  

  1. facilitate and expand the College’s engagement with the business community, the Winona community at large, and the State of Minnesota by–
    • providing guidance and support in designing and implementing sustainable engagement methods and practices. 
    • providing internship and mentorship opportunities.
    • providing opportunities for faculty to collaborate with business executives for practical and research exchanges.
    • providing access to facilities for visits and conversations with executives.
    • connecting the College to untapped businesses and organizations in Winona and beyond.  
  1. serve the economic interests and employment needs of the city of Winona, Southeast Minnesota, and State of Minnesota through a regionally premier AACSB accredited business and management education by–
    • providing input on the relevance of the curriculum of the College to current business practices.
    • communicating employers’ evaluation and assessment of the competencies and performance of the students recruited from the College of Business.
    • informing the College of the latest managerial practices and technological advances in the workplace.

Membership Expectations

  1. Members will serve for a 3-year term (variations will be accommodated as needed).
  2. The Board holds 2-3 regular meetings each year. 
  3. Board members must remain active and maintain membership on the Board through: 
    • attending one to 2 regular board meetings.
    • attending some of the College of Business events and functions.
    • initiating and/or participating in a project(s) that advances the vision and mission of the College.
    • helping to obtain resources for the faculty and students that enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the College.
    • advocating for the good and progress of the College in the community.  
  4. The Dean will regularly inform board members of the College’s activities, seek advice, and present on existing or new projects for Board engagement.
