Before your student teaching semester, you’ll complete at least 100 hours at field experience placements as you move through the Teacher Education Program.
View the Teacher Education Handbook (PDF) to understand the requirements, expectations and policies regarding field experience, as well as outlines of the assignments you will complete.
Arranging Your Field Experience
Field experience placements will be coordinated by the Center for Student Success or course faculty. Review the courses that include field experiences (PDF) and plan ahead to allow time in your schedule for the required.
An ideal schedule would leave 3-4 blocks of time throughout the week so that you could complete 20-40 hours in a semester.
Documenting Your Field Experience
The Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) requires Education students to earn and document at least 100 hours before they are eligible to student teach.
Students admitted after Fall 2022 will use Tevera to document field experience hours.
Students who are not using the Tevera system will receive an email with a link for each field experience course to document their hours toward the end of the semester.
At any time, you can check your Field Experience Transcript Report to see all the hours you’ve documented. It is easier to run this report when you are on campus. If you are off campus you will need to login via VPN to connect to the WSU network.
