Applied Communication Program

Are you interested in the field of Communication Studies as a whole? Or you can’t decide which major option you want to choose in Communication Studies? 

The Applied Communication major is designed to provide students with the most choices in their major in communication studies. Students can choose from the widest number of courses and customize the curriculum to meet their personal and professional goals. 

If you are thinking about pursuing a graduate degree in Communication Studies, this is the best choice for your undergraduate education because it is the most versatile.

Students who major in the Applied Communication Option will be expected to:

  • Assess communication behavior
  • Compare and contrast diverse perspectives on communication
  • Analyze communicative issues in real-world scenarios
  • Apply communication research findings both in and out of the classroom
  • Conduct semi-independent research in Communication Studies

This program requires a minor to help personalize your degree and expand on your skillset. 

If you are interested in becoming a teacher of communication in middle school or high school, you may want to enroll in the Teaching Communication Arts & Literature program.
