Matthew Lungerhausen

Dr. Lungerhausen studied at the University of California, Santa Cruz for his bachelor’s, then at Binghamton University for his master’s degree, before completing his doctorate at the University of Minnesota. 

Dr. Lungerhausen’s research interests include Modern Central and Eastern Europe, photography and visual culture, and history of the Arctic and Antarctic. 

His teaching areas follow those interests as he teaches courses on:

• Western Civilization
• 19th Century Europe
• Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union
• Modern China and East Asia
• history of the Arctic and Antarctic
