Tomas Tolvaisas

Tomas Tolvaisas was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, and grew up on the other side of the “Iron Curtain” during the 1970s and 1980s. 

He first came to the United States as a participant in an international educational exchange program and attended a high school in North Carolina before pursuing further undergraduate and graduate studies in North Carolina, Indiana, and New Jersey. 

His teaching and research areas include: 

  • the Cold War
  • the Vietnam War
  • history of American foreign relations
  • 20th century US history
  • American history in global perspective
  • Soviet history
  • East European history
  • international history 

Tomas enjoys jogging, tennis, traveling, reading, and cooking.
