Gregory Richard
Gregory L. Richard is a Professor of History and Legal Studies at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. With a rich academic background, he holds a PhD in history from the University of Mississippi and a MA in history from the University of Louisiana. Gregory also earned a JD and a BCL from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. His expertise and dedication to education are demonstrated through his previous role as Director of Legal Studies and his current position as pre-law advisor at Winona State University.
In addition to his academic roles, Gregory Richard actively contributes to the legal field as the chairperson for the Minnesota Legal Paraprofessional Pilot Program. He is an attorney licensed to practice in Minnesota, a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar, and the founder and leader of the WSU Law Clinic, which provides pro bono legal services to individuals seeking criminal expungement. This clinic not only serves the community by expanding access to justice but also offers invaluable hands-on experience for his students, further highlighting his commitment to integrating practical legal education with academic excellence.
Gregory has published and conducts research in areas related to the carceral state, the federal courts, and judicial intervention in prison reform. His leadership and experience make him a pivotal figure in both the academic and legal communities, continually advancing knowledge and practice in these critical fields.
