Faculty & Staff Devices
Winona State faculty and staff receive computers and related equipment needed for their jobs. Employees must agree to the Employee Tech Agreement.
Minnesota State Board policy 5.23.1.3 requires that all university-owned or -leased devices must have data erased before disposing or reusing the device.
This policy applies to devices transferred from one individual to another within the same department. WSU Information Technology cannot reassign any device until private data has been erased.
Equipment & Prices
Employees can choose from equipment that has been approved for use on the WSU network. Prices may vary.
Order WSU Tech EquipmentContact IT at ordertech@winona.edu to order equipment not listed or to purchase any computer hardware.
WSU may provide a cell phone or other mobile computing device with a data plan to employees if they need it for work use.
Before anything is purchased, the employee must complete the Initial and Annual Cell Authorization form and their supervisor must approve it.
Each mobile user must complete the same form annually to review the need for their plan, per MinnState Procedure 5.22.2.
Winona State’s eWarrior program provides laptops and a standard set of software for students, faculty, and staff.
Each WSU department determines which employees should have a laptop.
Employees with WSU laptops have the same tools and support as students enrolled in the eWarrior program with a few differences:
- Employee laptops must be exchanged for a new model every 3 years. Employees will be notified when their devices are due for exchange.
- Fees for lost, stolen, or damaged devices are charged to the department, and the department decides whether to pay the fees or charge them to the employee.
- Safeware insurance is not available for employee devices.
Review the features of current laptop models.
Complete the online laptop selection form to order a laptop for a new employee, then contact Tech Support to schedule a distribution session. New faculty and staff will learn the essentials for using the device on the WSU network during the distribution session.
