Payment Schedule

Winona State offers a flexible payment schedule that allows students and families to make tuition and fee payments throughout the semester.

Students expecting financial aid funds do not have to make a payment until financial aid is disbursed.

However, you should be prepared to pay for books, supplies, and other expenses from personal funds until your financial aid is processed.

Payment Schedule Policies

If you do not meet the payment dates as outlined, Winona State will charge you an additional $10 late fee per occurrence.

If you drop courses or withdraw from WSU after the deadline, you’ll be charged the full amount for those classes you’ve dropped.

You should consult with your advisor and the Registrar’s Office before dropping courses.

For most students, not making a payment will not result in the cancellation of a student’s registration.

Learn more about refund policies at WSU.

Your registration will be cancelled unless you meet at least one of these criteria by the payment due date:

  • Your tuition and fees are paid in full
  • You have a valid check-in to WSU campus housing
  • You have a valid financial aid application
  • You have valid enrollment in the NelNet Payment Plan
  • You have made a minimum first payment on the Extended Payment Plan
  • You have a valid third-party authorization on file with WSU Student Accounts
  • WSU Student Accounts has received a valid employee tuition waiver

WSU will place an unpaid balance hold on your account when you have an unpaid balance for the current or previous term.

This prevents you from:

  • registering for any future terms
  • receiving your diploma

A hold will remain on your account until your bill is paid in full. Once the balance is paid, the hold will automatically be removed.

If you cannot pay your account balance in full, you should contact the Student Accounts Office.

The staff in the Student Accounts Office can help you set up a payment plan and discuss what you need to do to have the hold removed to allow you to register.

Holds can only be lifted at the discretion of the Director of Business Services.

You can add additional classes within one day after the first class meeting. The payment for added classes must be received in the Cashier’s Office by the next due date in the payment schedule.

You have 1 day after the first class meeting to drop classes and receive a full refund for the regularly scheduled courses.

Students enrolled in weekend workshops need to drop prior to the start of the workshop to receive a full refund.
