Departmental Laptop Recommendations

Some academic departments require a specific laptop model, while others have a strong recommendation.

If an academic program is not listed here, then you are free to choose either the Apple Mac or Windows PC model. These recommendations are reviewed and updated annually.

Talk to your academic advisor if you have questions about laptop recommendations.

FAQs

When do I get my laptop?

You will be contacted by email when it is time to exchange your device.

Laptop are exchanged for newer models when they are about 2 years old, usually during the summer or beginning of fall semester.

Students can switch from a PC to a Mac or a Mac to a PC during the normal 2-year exchange without a fee.

There is a $50 platform switch fee to switch models before the exchange period. Assuming the alternate laptop is in stock:

  • Priority switches are given to students when the desired platform is required by their major
  • Platform switches outside the normal two-year rotation must be requested within the first two weeks of each semester
  • No platform switches will be allowed during the senior laptop sale

Contact the Technical Support Center to request a switch outside of the normal 2-year exchange.

When a student graduates, they are eligible to purchase their laptop.

Once you are accepted for graduation, you’ll receive information about the dates, times, and terms of the sale. Sale terms are negotiated each year.

Report the incident to the Tech Support as soon as possible. The eWarrior Digital Life and Learning agreement explains responsibilities and fees.
