Communication & Media Program Admission

Want to apply to Winona State’s Communication & Media programs?

Here are the steps you’ll need to take for our undergraduate programs and graduate program.

Apply for Bachelor’s Degree Programs

There is no formal application process to be accepted into the Communication & Media Department. 

Undergraduate students can simply declare a major or minor to enroll in a Communication & Media program. 

Apply for the Strategic Communication Master’s Program

Graduate students will complete one application to apply to Winona State Graduate Studies and the Strategic Communication master’s degree program at the same time. 

Application Deadlines

You can start the Strategic Communication program any time—you don’t have to wait for the Fall semester of a new academic year. 

Application deadlines vary based on when you want to start classes: 

  • Summer session: May 1 deadline
  • Fall term: Aug. 1 deadline
  • Spring term: Dec. 1 deadline

Application Materials

Include the following items within your online application:  

  • Current resumé
  • A written personal statement, no more than 2 pages in length, that:
    • introduces yourself to the selection committee.
    • explains how your academic and career experiences shaped your desire for this graduate degree.
    • describes your post-graduation career goals or plans.
  • Contact information for 2 references. No letters of recommendation required.

Strategic Communication applicants should complete the general GradCAS application.
