Composite Materials Engineering Research & Design Projects
Students majoring in Composite Materials Engineering (CME) have the opportunity to manage multiple design projects and watch them come to life.
As part of the two-course capstone experience, you will get to work with a team to turn a product idea into a fully functioning prototype. These products must have a market demand, incorporate composite materials, and be constructed using WSU’s lab facilities.
You will also get the opportunity to create a website with your team to highlight the stages of the design process. Explore past projects to see what’s possible for you at WSU:
- ErgoCarbon Work Surface: work surface with ergonomic benefits in height adjustability and portability.
- Hunter’s Lite Lift: lightweight tree climbing stand for hunters.
- Stride Warrior Lite: ultra-lightweight walker that passes ISO/ASTM standards for Medicare-supported mobility devices.
- Auto Anchors: improved Jack Stand design.
- CarbCon Table: unique and stable space for common small items.
- Carbon Cornhole: improved composite design of popular lawn game.
- sTABLE Sawhorse: clamshell-style folding structure for raising objects to an appropriate work height.
- Carbon Climber: ultra-lightweight carbon fiber ladder.
- CargoX: hard shell meets soft shell rooftop cargo carrier.
- Clay Pidgeon Pitcher: collapsible and detachable pitcher for trap throwing.
- Scooter Solutions: scooter sidecar for transporting cargo and passengers.
