Composite Materials Engineering Research & Design Projects
Students majoring in Composite Materials Engineering (CME) have the opportunity to manage multiple design projects and watch them come to life.
As part of the two-course capstone experience, you will get to work with a team to turn a product idea into a fully functioning prototype. These products must have a market demand, incorporate composite materials, and be constructed using WSU’s lab facilities.
You will also get the opportunity to create a website with your team to highlight the stages of the design process. Explore past projects to see what’s possible for you at WSU:
- Carbon Ascensus Tree Climbing Stick: a lightweight and strong tree climbing stick that can withstand any kind of weather
- Carbon Ultraviolet Basket (CUB): the dream of an avid frolfer (frisbee golfer)—a portable disc golf basket
- Downforcer: a front bumper sports car performance enhancer
- KyPack: a packable kayak perfect for the sole adventurer
