Employees have several IDs numbers that are essential for everyday campus tasks.
Every employee is assigned a State of Minnesota employee identification number referred to as a State ID or SEMA4 ID Number.
Use this identification number to log into the State of Minnesota Employee Self-Service Portal, where you can:
- manage direct deposit
- view paystubs
- access tax forms including the W-2, W-4 and 1095-C
- enroll in benefits view benefit elections
- manage voluntary retirement deductions
You can locate the 8-digit number in Workday by going to the Overview page and then IDs tab.
Every employee is assigned a Minnesota State system employee identification number referred to as the StarID or MinnState ID.
Use this identification number to:
- log into your WSU computer
- access Office365, email, WarriorSpace and D2L Brightspace

Visit the StarID website to activate your StarID or reset your password.
Every employee is assigned a Workday identification number. This will be needed for various business processes completed in Workday: Business Office transactions (credit card, purchase orders, etc).
Every WSU employee is assigned a WSU Tech ID number, which is printed on your Warrior ID card.
The Warrior ID card is used for door access. You can locate the 8-digit number in Minnesota State Employee Home under My Jobs.
You can also contact the Technical Support Center to get this ID number.
